Egg Donation - Starting the Cycle

Donor Egg Program - main page

With an IVF-anonymous Donor Egg cycle, we are essentially taking an IVF cycle and dividing the medications and appointments between two people; the Intended Parent and the anonymous Egg Donor.

To begin, both the egg donor and intended parent are placed on birth control pills. This assists us in coordinating the menstrual cycles. The Intended Parent will typically follow the Fresh Embryo Transfer with Lupron and Birth Control Pills Protocol. The donor will follow the either the Oocyte Donation Antagonist Protocol with OCs or the Agonist Protocol with OCs. Our goal is to get the uterine lining of the Intended Parent ready before we begin to stimulate the ovaries of the donor.

The entire process from the first day of the Intended Parent’s period to the embryo transfer takes about 2 months, if there are no delays.

On days the Donor is seen, the Coordinator will contact the Intended Parents to update them on the status of their treatment. Likewise, the Coordinator communicates with the Donor to keep her aware of the Intended Parent’s status.
